These trips leave early morning for a day out to somewhere within a couple of hours driving distance of Lufbra.
The 'Dark Peak' area of Derbyshire is a hiking club favourite.
Weekend trips
Weekend trips allow us to go much further afield - in the past we've been to Lake District, Yorkshire and Glencoe.

Freshers Trip: Sun, 17th Oct 2010 
Meet: Students Union - Beam Engine - 08:15
For our first trip of the year we will be travelling in style on a coach to the Lady Bower Reservoir in the Peak District. The Peak District has some of the country's best walking for all abilities and is just over an hour away from Loughborough, so is in easy reach of the club.
We will be running a variety of walks to suit all abilities, so if your a beginner this trip is a great introdution to hill walking and if you've done it many times before then you can do a longer walk and just enjoy a nice day in the country.
After you've been out for a walk there'll be a chance to have a pint in one of the local pubs before we travel back to Loughborough, hopefully to arrive back early evening.
Hopefully as many new members and returning students as possible will be free to come along so we can have an excellent first trip and everyone can get to know each other, before our first weekend trip.

Dovedale: Sun, 24th Oct 2010

This trip will take us to the Dovedale region of the Peak District just north of Ashbourne. There will be a chance to enjoy the limestone countryside, maybe enjoy an ice cream or two and get to know other members in the club ready for the weekend trip.

Dunmail Raise - Lake District: Fri, 29th Oct 2010 - Sun, 31st Oct 2010

Our first weekend trip of the year will be to a popular destination of the club. The Dunmail Raise Hut in the Lake District just north of Grasmere Village is a wonderful location for lots of different types of walks. This weekend trip will give new members the chance to meet older members of the club whilst enjoying (hopefully!) some fantastic views from the local mountains. These mountains are a lot larger than the usual ones we visit on our trips to the Peak District.
We travel up on the Friday night and aim to be there in time for a little bit of socialising before bed.
On the Saturday we offer a variety of walks in the surrounding area. We also provide you with a cooked breakfast and a packed lunch. After you return from your walk on Saturday we offer an evening meal, with a main course and a dessert. After this we shall no doubt head to the local pub for some more socialising.
On the Sunday we offer the choice of either another, shorter walk to allow for time, or a trip to one of the local towns if anyone fancies some retail therapy...

Night Hike - Castleton: Wed, 24th Nov 2010 
Meet: Students Union - Beam Engine - 15:00
On wednesday afternoon when everyone's off from lectures we'll be heading to the Castleton area of the Peak District to experience walking at dusk through to night time. We might even get a chance to see a sunset on the hills!
This will be another great opportunity for new members to get familiar with the club and it's current members.
